Here are the Bands and their Tracks
Hopefully this will become a link to the Band's original material, which you will be able to listen to on-line.
If you feel this section applies to you, and you would like to allow access to your music from this page, then please contact me on george dot sparshatt at a303 dot com.
I would really be interested in any info, photos that you may have of your band or of your time in the shed.
The Jazz Men
Armed with my new cassette-based Tascam 244 4-track, a couple of PZM mics from Tandys, a Shure Unidyne B and a Boss CE-3 chorus pedal,
I set about recording 5 tracks for these guys;
- Andy Sullivan - Drums (ex Radiation - Harrow Way, Andover)
- Ian McDougall - Guitar
- Mick (we need your last name) - Sax
- Pete Dineley - Bass
Traks...
- 01 - Valdez in the Country
- 02 - Take 5
- 03 - Born again
- 04 - Sunshine of Your Smile
- 05 - Blues
Mr Wolf
Headed by Adam Petley (keyboards), Mr Wolf was the very first band to use the new recording fascilities available at The 're-vamped' Shed.
Armed with their laid back style of rock, balanced well between smooth guitar and well chosen keyboard pads,
Mr Wolf's lead vocalist oozed a timbre ready to complement and complete the track 'I need You'.
'I need This' track to offer here :D Let me know what you think lads.
Doug and Andy
Based in Basinstoke, Doug and Andy came to The Shed on several occasions to record their own unique blend of art.
Whilst I don't like to compartmentise music, D&A alway made me feel like "this should be the direction 'Tears for Fears' should be taking".
Fellas, sorry to turn you down on the European Tour mixing job - I was soooo up for that! But my Mum was very ill,
and the family's requirements had to come first.
I would have loved to embrace that opportunity :o
The Templemeads
Surely one of the most interesting of UK bands ever. With their wild mix of violin, acoustic guitar, bass, drums and Stuart delivering
poignant, but, at the same time, abstract vocals, I would safely say that The Templemeads 'are' one of my favourite bands.
In fact I will state..."The Levellers in full swing, could be likened to The Templemeads, just waiting in the wings"...
What ever happened to the 1/4inch master of the 12 inch remix Stuart?
It's not just me - here's an excerpt from Oliver Gray’s THE GIG LIST...
1989 6. August: The Templemeads, Mash Tun, Winchester;
What a great name. A truly likeable "raggle-taggle" band, which made an album with the marvellous title "Ate My Kitchen".
The Pulse
OK - they were young, but they Rocked! And had a large Andover following to boot!
Delirious
Following on from The Pulse, the Penfound brothers continued their assult into the local rock market with a rich vibrance,
which has since become the epitome and the de facto mid 80's rock sound.
Check this out if you don't believe me - Vamp E.P. goes for $311.51
James Wiltshire
I first met James when he turned up at The Shed with a band consisting of turntables, vinyls and lots of bling.
Unwittingly, James's keyboard (Korg M1) had lost all its settings. Unknowingly to anyone,
while I was setting up the recording inputs for the turntables and mikes for the rappers,
James had re-programmed all the musical sequences ready for recording the track - 'Freedom'.
Following a first great recording of this track, James and I decided that we were going to later record vesion 2 of 'Freedom'.
Following 'Freedom' version 2, I organised a meeting with Steve Wolf of A&M Records in order to sell the track.
For various reasons, we never quite got to national distribution - but we got close :)
James has since been working with many projects, and is currently working in a Brighton based band called 'The Freemasons'
(named after their favourite local pub), and has since enjoyed success with club anthems including 'Love on my Mind' featuring Amanda Wilson.

Phil Dunn
What can I say about this bloke? Only my best friend, and in music as well !
We shared many, many hours jamming, writing and recording, utilising all the fascilities available to us in The Shed.
We even did a concert at The Cricklade Theatre, Andover in aid of 'Save the Children' fund, in which we raised a few quid.
Maytrix
Originating from the Winchester area, this band defintely had a sound which encompased conteporary rock with a hint of electric Irish folk.
Graham Kowalewick
I loved working with this guy!
Trying to keep the acoustic feel to his music, I remember using a genuine 1970's padded telephone stool
as a 'beat kit' to give a flat and deadened percussive background to one of his tracks.
Where are you guys? I really loved catching up with you at the do in Downton! Send my love to Carole :x
Mark Taylor
Where are You now Mark? - I got well rid of the 'witch bitch' mate!
Mark would turn up to The Shed with a cassette of the ideas he had recorded on a 'piano style' mono tape recorder
and ask me to reconstruct his ideas into complete songs.
This was a great excuse for me to exercise my arranging fantasies -
apart from the fact that I couldn't translate his musical ideas into recordings as fast as he could produced them!
By The Way Mark - I still have your originals on cassette! Please contact me so I can send them back. Also, thanks for the bottle of red - it meant a lot!
Uno Rufo
What can I say - A Great local band who did all the right covers!
Beneathe all the hair, they were Real Rockers just wanting to bring their favourite
music to the locals. Well hard!
Peter Staples (The Troggs)
As the original bass guitarist with The Troggs during their era of success with tracks such as Wild Thing, Peter came to The Shed to record some new ideas!
There is a profile of Peter on vh1.com
Sue Bazzoni
I didn't record enough! Sue and I bonded through our common tastes in music.
Sue was a girl from Charlton near Andover,
who was able to speak 7 languages and play no less than 27 instruments.
After gradually losing her sight from an early age, it didn't stop Sue from living life to the full and passing
on her experiences through the gift of song.
I enjoyed many jams with Sue, but unfortunately, didn't have the equipment to record Sue in motion! Sue passed away at the tender age of 27.
Something Strange
Akin to 'The Pet Shop Boys', these guys were definately Salisbuy's answer to that fat 'Roland' analog sound!
What happened to you guys? Please let me know!
Recorded Delivery
As local club bands go, these guys really delivered!
Not wanting much, except a new recording to offer their fans, Recorded Delivery
set up in The Shad, and just went for it!
Whilst we managed to get a whole bunch of numbers into a very short time,
I couldn't talk the guitarist in to selling his wonderful electric 12 string guitar to me!
